Color comparison
Navy or midnight blue? Same depth. Same blue. Same shrug at the rack. It looks like a coin toss. It isn’t quite one, and the gap is smaller than the tags suggest.
#111D45#191970Side by side
Midnight Blue is more vivid, and the two are about as light as each other; both sit in the blue range.
Midnight Blue itself is very dark and vivid. Same blue, more charge.
Its two relatives pull the other way. Space Cadet is very dark and muted, so it sits close to navy in mood. Dark Slate Blue is the lightest of the three, dark rather than very dark, with medium intensity.
So the name covers a range, from a saturated blue that glows to a quiet one that barely differs from navy. Plain Midnight Blue is the vivid one, and that’s the one I compare here.
Which one suits you
Each color is checked against the palette of each sub-season, color by color. This is a first hint, not a verdict: see how it looks on your own face.

Questions
No. Both are very dark blues, but navy is muted and midnight blue is vivid. On a screen the gap can vanish. Hold two sweaters near your face in daylight and the extra charge shows, because it puts a little color onto your skin.
Midnight blue. Look at what you see first: in midnight blue the blue comes before the dark, in navy the dark comes first. Its relative Space Cadet is muted, though, so check the exact garment you are holding.
Yes, two: Bright Spring and True Winter have both. Every other sub-season has a different answer. Four lean to navy alone, and six use a stand-in color from their own palette. For those six, the closest palette color is the safer place to start, and you can still test the rest.
Find your sub-season first. The free color analysis quiz points to your likely season, then hints at the sub-season. It’s a first read, not a verdict. Then check the pick for your sub-season above and hold both blues to your face.
Not fully. A screen shifts a color, and so do dye and fabric. A reference color tells you roughly where a blue sits, not how it will look on a sweater. Judge the real garment, in daylight, against your skin.
