Spring sub-season
The lightest of the warm seasons: all light and freshness, never heavy.

Light Spring is delicacy.
Your defining trait is lightness. Warmth comes second.
You need colors that are light, fresh and a little sun-warmed. The moment a color turns dark or heavy, it takes over and all anyone sees is the clothes.
Light Spring sits on the border with Light Summer. They share the same first quality: lightness. What separates them is temperature. On you, colors keep a golden base.
In practice, your colors are the light, fresh versions of the Spring palette. Think of a garden in April, early in the morning.

Light camel blazer, ivory shirt, golden beige pants, peach scarf
Mint sweater, light blue jeans, ivory sneakers
Light coral dress, fine gold jewelry, ivory clutch
Eight pieces to start with, all of them mix and match.
Small, light prints: fine florals, light stripes, subtle polka dots. Fluid fabrics, matte or lightly satin: lightweight cotton, linen, washed silk.
Makeup, hair, jewelry
Golden blondes, honey, light strawberry blonde and bright highlights. Avoid very dark or ash-toned hair colors.
Light yellow gold, rose gold, fine gold tones. Delicate pieces rather than chunky ones.
Head to head
Both seasons are light. Light Summer is cooler and more powdery, Light Spring warmer and fresher.
The two-color test. In daylight, with no makeup, hold a piece of fabric in each of these two colors up to your face. The one that evens out your complexion and brings out your eyes is your answer. The one that deepens your dark circles or makes you look tired is not yours.
| Sub-season | Temperature | Lightness | Intensity | Contrast | Signature color |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light Spring | Slightly warm | Very light | Medium, fresh | Low | Peach |
| Warm Spring | Very warm | Medium to light | Bright | Moderate | Coral |
| Bright Spring | Neutral to warm | Medium | Very bright | High | Bright Coral |
| Light Summer | Slightly cool | Very light | Soft | Low | Powder Pink |

For everyone
Any skin tone can be a Light Spring. Deep, medium or fair, with a warm, cool or olive undertone: what decides is how your skin reacts when colors are held up to your face.
For a Light Spring man: ivory, sky blue or mint shirts, a beige or warm light blue suit, sand chinos. Swap the black suit for a light navy.
The method is the same for everyone: the pieces change, not the colors.

Questions
Hold a peach and a powder pink up to your face. If the peach lights up your complexion, you lean Light Spring. If it’s the powder pink, you lean Light Summer.
A light, warm navy, a camel or a warm light gray. Those are your “darks.”
Keep Black, Burgundy, Charcoal and Dark Brown away from your face. Too dark for you: they create a contrast your face can’t carry.
Light yellow gold, rose gold, fine gold tones. Delicate pieces rather than chunky ones.
Golden blondes, honey, light strawberry blonde and bright highlights. Avoid very dark or ash-toned hair colors.
Peach, light coral, salmon pink. Light, glossy formulas rather than matte, dark ones.
